The Cold Rinse is the Key to My Day

I wake up with a groan. "This is stupid" I mutter to myself as I stand up and stretch. After taking my first two steps, nerve pain electrifies my left hip shooting down to just past my knee. I will have this pain for the rest of the day, but the first thirty minutes of the day are the worst.

I am filled with depression, so I immediately make my bed so I don't get back in it. A very important thing for me to do. Next, I head to the shower. It would be very easy not to do either one of these, very easy, but that would be a terrible way to set up the rest of my day. So I continue.

When I am finally done cleaning my body and have rinsed away the filth, I turn the hot water completely off. Now there is just a lazy stream of very cold water falling. I fill my hands and splash my face about six times. This feels good. I bend over and stick just my head in the stream. I am shocked by the cold and the sensitivity of my bald head. I stand up causing the cold water that has just been stored in my beard to fall down the front of my body. I get the chills in a good way.

My feet are next to get the shock because I have been standing far enough away at this point to shield them from the cold. I have teased myself enough by now and it is time to just walk in. So I do. Only for six seconds and then I turn the water off. That is my cold rinse. It is key for me.

I feel like the person waking up and the person after the cold rinse are very different people. As I am drying my now clean body I notice a dulling of the pain. It may have even disappeared. I feel good and alive. I brush my teeth and get dressed.

Now it's time to do some work on the computer for about $6 an hour. A good rate don't you think? I work for a little while because I do have things I need to pay for. There is a breaking point though, and I realize what a waste of time it is. I get up to notice the pain again on my first step. Of course, the cold rinse is not a cure for nerve pain.

I head outside to the garden to check on my family of 382 plants. I load myself a dab of fine cannabis oil into my vaporizer and take a hit. Oh, that's nice! I'll have another. I am now lost in my own world. The pain is there but is not the center of attention anymore.

I will now water, prune, talk to, take pictures, stare, repot, and give love to my plants for about the next ninety minutes. Let's just say that marijuana is another key to my day. I get lost for a while.

After dinner, I catch up on some tv shows and movies. At first, I find it difficult to position myself so I don't have any pain and can just enjoy what I am watching. I eventually do and let time slip away. I know, however, that I am just building up pain as I sit or lie there. The next couple of steps are going to be fun. They are. Even just standing up I have pain at this point of the night. It is 10 pm and the next key to my day will begin now.

Vodka.

There are two reasons for this. Well, there may be more than that, but I will tell you about the most important. This is the time of the day when I watch the news and catch up on current events. After a couple of minutes, I see what is going on and realize I must start drinking to listen to anymore.

I combine the vodka and the dabbing of some fine cannabis oil. This will help get me through the news. I find that three vodka drinks and countless dabs are the best combinations for me. Again, I have a very low amount of pain. I almost don't even notice it. I feel good!

I can sleep.
