I Just Went Vegan. What am I Going to Do With my Leather Boots?

Congratulations and thank you for your new lifestyle choice. I hope you enjoy all the amazing benefits it will bring to you. Hopefully, by now you know what foods in the grocery store are available to you. It seems like the store shrunk a little, huh? Just know you are going to get tricked by some products on the shelf. That is ok, it happens to all of us.

But we are not going to talk about food here. What other kinds of household products, clothing, or footwear do you own that are not vegan? There are many layers of the vegan onion to peel, but footwear is the subject for now.

One of your favorite pairs of shoes is made out of leather. Hmm. There are going to be a lot of different things to be said about this. In my opinion, I find it wasteful to throw a product away only to have to replace it with something new. It just seems like a waste of resources.

I had a pair of leather work gloves when I went vegan. I just used them until they were worn and then replaced them with a vegan alternative. I would suggest doing the same with the boots.

I was perfectly fine doing this. Others may not have made the same choice as me. I am ok with that as well. If wearing the shoes makes you uncomfortable and sad, I would understand. There is no need to trouble your mental health. If this is the case, I would try to sell them or give them to a person in need.

Are you still vegan if you continue to wear the boots? Again, it all depends upon who you ask. In my own life, I know that I currently do everything I can to be a good vegan. I have no way of controlling the decisions I made in the past, but I can choose to make good decisions in the present and future.

Good luck on your journey!
